Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1Arrival in Srinagar
Arrive at Srinagar airport, where your driver meets you. Check in to your hotel or houseboat and take an evening shikara ride on Dal Lake past the floating gardens.
Day 2Srinagar sightseeing
Visit the Mughal Gardens (Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashme Shahi), then drive up to Shankaracharya Temple for a view over the city and the lakes.
Day 3Srinagar sightseeing
Early-morning visit to the floating vegetable market, then the old city: Jamia Masjid, Khanqah-e-Moula and Hazratbal Shrine. Afternoon shopping at Polo View and Lal Chowk.
Day 4Transfer to Sonamarg
Drive about 3 hours to Sonamarg along the Sindh River. Afternoon pony or walk to Thajiwas Glacier. Overnight in Sonamarg.
Day 5Transfer to Gulmarg
Drive about 2 hours to Gulmarg via Tangmarg. Ride the Gulmarg Gondola to Kongdori (Phase 1) and, if conditions allow, Apharwat (Phase 2). Overnight in Gulmarg.
Day 6Transfer to Pahalgam
Drive about 3 hours to Pahalgam, stopping at the Pampore saffron fields, Avantipora ruins and a cricket-bat workshop. Evening by the Lidder River.
Day 7Pahalgam sightseeing
Local taxi tour of Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari. Optional pony ride to Baisaran meadow.
Day 8Departure
Drive back from Pahalgam to Srinagar airport for your onward journey.

Good to know
- Prepaid SIM cards from outside Jammu & Kashmir don't work here. Postpaid connections do.
- Snow can close Gondola Phase 2 and some high passes. If that happens, we'll suggest something just as good on the day.
- In Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg, local union taxis handle inner sightseeing. You pay them directly.
- Carry a government photo ID for every traveller.
