Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1Arrival in Srinagar
Arrive in Srinagar and check in to a houseboat. Sunset shikara ride on Dal Lake.
Day 2Srinagar sightseeing
Mughal Gardens, Shankaracharya Temple and the old city. Early dinner before the road trip.
Day 3Srinagar to Sonamarg
Drive about 3 hours to Sonamarg. Afternoon at Thajiwas Glacier. Rest to acclimatise.
Day 4Sonamarg to Kargil via Zojila
Cross Zojila Pass (about 3,500 m) and stop at the Drass War Memorial before reaching Kargil (about 5 to 6 hours).
Day 5Kargil to Leh
Drive past Mulbekh, the moonland of Lamayuru and Alchi monastery to Leh (about 7 hours).
Day 6Leh acclimatisation day
Rest in the morning. Visit Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace in the evening. Inner Line Permits are arranged today.
Day 7Leh to Nubra via Khardung La
Cross Khardung La to Nubra Valley. Visit Diskit monastery and the sand dunes of Hunder.
Day 8Nubra to Pangong Tso
Drive along the Shyok river to Pangong Tso. Overnight in a lakeside camp.
Day 9Pangong to Leh
Sunrise at the lake, then return over Chang La. Visit Thiksey monastery on the way to Leh.
Day 10Departure from Leh
Transfer to Leh airport for your flight home.

Good to know
- Prepaid SIM cards from outside Jammu & Kashmir don't work here. Postpaid connections do.
- Snow can close Gondola Phase 2 and some high passes. If that happens, we'll suggest something just as good on the day.
- In Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg, local union taxis handle inner sightseeing. You pay them directly.
- Carry a government photo ID for every traveller.
