Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1Arrival in Jammu, drive to Katra
Pick-up from Jammu airport or railway station and drive about 1.5 hours to Katra. Register for the Yatra and rest.
Day 2Mata Vaishno Devi darshan
Early start for the trek to the Bhawan (about 13 km each way). Ponies, palkis, battery cars and helicopter are available at extra cost. Return to Katra.
Day 3Katra to Patnitop
Drive about 3 hours to Patnitop, a pine-forested hill station. Afternoon at Nathatop meadows and Sanasar.
Day 4Patnitop to Srinagar
Drive about 5 to 6 hours to Srinagar through the Banihal tunnel. Evening shikara ride on Dal Lake.
Day 5Srinagar sightseeing
Mughal Gardens (Nishat, Shalimar, Chashme Shahi), Shankaracharya Temple and Hazratbal Shrine.
Day 6Sonamarg day trip
Full-day excursion to Sonamarg and Thajiwas Glacier. Return to Srinagar.
Day 7Srinagar to Gulmarg
Drive about 2 hours to Gulmarg and ride the Gondola. Overnight in Gulmarg.
Day 8Gulmarg to Pahalgam
Drive about 4 to 5 hours to Pahalgam via the Pampore saffron fields. Evening by the Lidder River.
Day 9Departure
Morning in Pahalgam, then drive about 3 hours to Srinagar airport.

Good to know
- Prepaid SIM cards from outside Jammu & Kashmir don't work here. Postpaid connections do.
- Snow can close Gondola Phase 2 and some high passes. If that happens, we'll suggest something just as good on the day.
- In Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg, local union taxis handle inner sightseeing. You pay them directly.
- Carry a government photo ID for every traveller.
